A public lecture and dialogue titled “Sora-Wataru Chikyu Wakusei Kagaku” was held during the University of Tokyo Homecoming Day on October 19, 2024.

The event featured a conversation between novelist Shin Iyohara, a graduate of the Department of Earth and Planetary Science, and Professor Shogo Tachibana and Professor Seiji Sugita of the University of Tokyo Organization for Planetary and Space Science (UTOPS).

During the session, the speakers discussed connections between science and literature, including how scientific ideas are incorporated into storytelling, as well as research and education in Earth and planetary science. A Q&A session with participants was also held.

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, we invited elementary and junior high school students and their parents to the Hongo Campus for the UTOPS event “Let’s Make Ryugu Bath Bombs!”

We talked about Ryugu and Hayabusa2, and made bath bombs together.
